Cusp Gallery is proud to present Newport ’25, a solo exhibition by painter and gallerist Jennifer Mujezinovic. Known for her layered, emotive oil portraits of women, Mujezinovic’s work rests in an alluring space between classical portraiture and contemporary editorial aesthetics. Her figures are distinctive in their elongated elegance, at once composed and expressive. They are timeless, intimate, and deeply human. The works in this exhibition have been displayed alongside paintings by artist and singer-songwriter John Mellencamp at Clash Art Gallery, Mujezinovic’s own gallery in Bloomington, Indiana, a pairing that reveals the dialogue her work inspires.

Working without preliminary sketches, Mujezinovic begins each painting on a blank canvas, guided purely by instinct. When gazing upon her paintings, the viewer is enlightened by a mood of serenity and strength. This is the magic of Mujezinovic’s paintings: they allow us to experience what it means to be human by encountering different perspectives of beauty. Though her work may resemble portraiture, she sees each piece as something more ephemeral: a portrait of emotion, of presence, of how she experiences beauty.

Cameo: Beneath the Surface - The Exquisite Contradiction of Delicate Strength, 2024-2025 brings together recent works that explore the emotional architecture of the female form. These are paintings of strength and delicacy, stillness and movement.
